61st Annual Sale on behalf of the Welsh Half-Bred Sheep Breeders Association. Vale of Clwyd Livestock Centre, Ruthin.

The Judges Messrs Elfed and Alun Evans, Ffrith Fedw, awarded the prizes as follows:



Yearling Ewes:

The Best Pen of Yearlings and Winner of The Doug Brereton Perpetual Challenge Trophy was awarded to: Lot 5, a Pen of 25, exhibited by Mr Gwyn Jones, Nant Gwyn, Eglwysbach which sold for £142.00 and purchased by Barker & Borlase, Church Stretton.

The ‘Runner Up’ Lot 18, a Pen of 30 were shown by CHE & JM Davies & Williams, Foel Fach, Llansanffraid, which realised £155.00 and were purchased by Ian Holgate, Street House Farm, Wigglesworth.

Top price of the day went to Lot 29, a Pen of 30, shown by I G Evans & Son, Halton Farm, Chirk, selling for £165.00 and purchased by Astra Zeneca.

The 770 yearlings on offer averaged £129.11, minimum price being £100.00, maximum £165.00.



Ewe Lambs:

In the ewe lambs classes 1st prize Pen of 40 and Overall Champion was awarded to Lot 36 shown by Gwyn Jones, Nant Gwyn, Eglwysbach, and selling for £125.00 to JG & IV Jones, Trefaes Fawr, Sarn, Pwllheli.

2nd Prize Pen of 40 was awarded to Lot 47 shown by G & T Lloyd Jones, Rhydonnen Isaf, Rhewl, Llangollen and selling for £90.00 to Noel Williamson, Hendre Llan, Cyffylliog.

In the Pen of 20 Ewe Lambs, 1st Prize and Reserve Champion Overall was awarded to Lot 68 shown by Gareth Jones, Ty Nant, Eglwysbach, selling for £112.00 TO Barker & Borlase, Church Stretton.

2nd Prize was awarded to Lot 69, shown by IG Evans & Son, Halton Farm, Chirk and selling for £96.00 to Roy & G Hughes, Ty Canol, Croesoswallt.

There was a 100% clearance and averaged £77.10, minimum £56.00, maximum £125.00.
